The Path of Distinction in Medical Education Learning Community is a group of medical students interested in furthering their knowledge and skills in medical education. It’s an opportunity for educationally-minded students to meet, build community and support one another as future teachers and leaders in academic medicine. The Learning Community meets at least once per semester, providing opportunities to learn more about a wide variety of education topics. Meetings are facilitated by students, faculty or staff and include workshops, panels, guest speakers, and other activities.

Requirements
Participation in the Medical Education Learning Community is an important part of the Path of Distinction in Medical Education. It is expected that PoD MedEd students consistently attend all learning community sessions as they are able. Remote access is available when possible for those in the statewide campus. Starting with our 2025 graduating class the minimum requirement is to attend 6 sessions total. Our 2024 graduating class will continue to have a requirement of 3.
Guidelines for Virtual Attendance
For those who attend virtually, you must follow these ground rules in order for your attendance to count:
- have their camera on.
- engage with our Learning Community through asking questions and/or participating in discussions.
- stay for the entire session.
- have their names clearly marked through zoom.
